When Iván was just a teenager, life dealt him a harsh blow: his mother was widowed and left with the enormous responsibility of supporting him and his three siblings. At only 15 years old, Iván decided to join her in the family workshop, becoming her support and the hope of his home.

Shortly after, the opportunity arose to learn a new technique: high-temperature ceramics. This knowledge opened the door for him to transform and enrich the pottery tradition of Capula. It wasn't easy. Years of trials, effort, and great patience were needed to achieve the transition from traditional clay to ceramics, which also involved new kilns and much learning. But perseverance and family unity made the dream possible. While Iván and his siblings created each piece with dedication, their mother took charge of bringing them to the world, sharing the fruits of their labor.

In 2008, after years of struggle, sacrifice, and learning, El Nuevo Colibrí, Iván González's independent workshop, was born. Today, his work keeps the roots of Capula's crafts alive, honoring the memory and teachings of his mother, but also leaving the mark of his own style: a unique touch, full of history, love, and resilience, embodied in each piece of high-temperature ceramics.
